  • We are looking for a Studio Technician to manage glaze and slip formulations, maintain our studio's inventory and equipment and ensure a safe and organized working environment. This role involves collaborating with our team to implement studio upgrades and assist with classes, events, and workshops.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Conduct glaze and slip formulation, mixing and testing

    • Maintain and update chemical inventory, coordinate restock and delivery of raw materials

    • Organize and maintain the glaze room

    • Collaborate with the team to implement studio upgrades tailored to the needs of the studio community

    • Perform studio maintenance, organization, and cleaning duties

    • Conduct equipment maintenance to ensure proper functioning

    • Uphold safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment

    • Maintain kilns as well kiln furniture, read and understand kiln errors and witness cones

    • Load and unload kilns

    • Provide assistance to students, teachers, studio members and techs

    • Train new technicians on studio procedures and equipment maintenance

    • Occasionally assist with buildout projects, events, collaborations, and workshops

    Who We’re Looking For:

    • Previous experience in a ceramic studio environment

    • Experience in glaze chemistry, mixing and formulating glazes, and glaze room maintenance

    • Experience in wheel throwing and hand building

    • Experience with loading and unloading electric kilns, general kiln maintenance, and understanding how to read kiln errors and witness cones

    • Knowledge of safety protocols related to pottery studio operations

    • Experience with power tools

    • Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs

    Employment Type & Schedule:

    • Part-time, 2-3 days per week, 10 am to 6:30 pm (time of the day is flexible)

    Compensation:

    • $23 - $28 per hour
